Armacell provides complete system solution for Ford India

Ford India was established in 1995 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader based in the US: Ford has invested US$ 1 bn to build a state-of-the-art integrated manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Operations started in 2013 - first vehicles came off-line in 2015. With the Sanand operations, Ford India will double its manufacturing capacity in India with an installed capacity of 610,000 engines and 440,000 vehicles.
In 2013, Ford India was looking for a complete system solution for this plant in Sanand with respect to thermal and acoustic insulation and its application.

Armacell is a complete system solution provider with its wide range of products for external as well as internal application for thermal and acoustic insulation. Ford chose us as preferred partner for this project.

The project applications demanded products which would ensure complete condensation control, excellent indoor air quality and protection of material from mechanical abuse, UV and rainwater.

On the basis of the evaluation of the project requirements, Armaflex® and Arma-Chek® products were chosen. 25 mm Armaflex® Class 0 Self Seal Tubes and sheets were provided as thermal insulation solution. These products ensure easy and faster installation due to the self-seal property. 25 mm and 10 mm of ArmaSound® SuperSilence Ductliner with Microban® were installed for the acoustic needs and to ensure excellent Indoor Air Quality. 18 mm and 23 mm Armaflex® Class 0 Plus with Microban® sheets were used for thermal efficiency and improved Indoor Air Quality as Armaflex® Class 0 Plus has a very low thermal conductivity (λ0°C ≤ 0.033 W/m·K) and high water vapour diffusion resistance (μ ≥ 10,000).

The combination of Armaflex® Class 0 material with Arma-Chek® R Grey and Arma-Chek® GC was applied for the external insulation needs to ensure UV and rain water protection. In addition, Arma-Chek® R offers excellent protection against water vapour ingress (μ > 50,000) that minimizes risk of Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
