Employee Story Monika Trojanowska-Tomczak – "The great thing about working at Armacell is that I have many tools to work with at my disposal."

Monika joined Armacell’s Thermoplastic Materials team in March 2015. After finishing her PhD at the University of Breslau in Poland and having worked at a chemical company as Applications Specialist for the Phosphorus Business Unit, she is happy to focus on the development of products now. Monika moved from Poland to Germany in order to gain international experience.

"My husband speaks German and he was offered a job as a chemist in Dusseldorf. With Armacell, I found a globally operating company with which I can further develop my professional career. So I decided to accompany him to Germany. We live in Unna, but I travel to Poland for business trips regularly in order to carry out tests and support the development of new recipes in Środa Śląska."

At Armacell, Monika managed to broaden her knowledge about process technology and raw materials.

I learned a lot about physical foaming of thermoplastic materials, which was a completely new field for me. Apart from that, I was able to improve my other skills e.g. in project management.

For her first very own project Monika works on improving the insulation on copper for an improved fire classification. After a recipe for the coating was developed, the project is now in the implementation phase. As Project Chemist she takes care of internal projects with regard to laboratory foaming. "The great thing about working at Armacell is that I have many tools to work with at my disposal. And if I need something else, I can always ask my colleagues, if a special tool can be ordered."

Finding out whether new tools are necessary for the company is another part of Monika’s job: "One of my tasks is to build knowledge for the company. I constantly update the internal database, I do market checks about all sorts of raw materials and I keep the company up to date about new solutions."
